I don’t know why, but I am now obsessing over the fact that when this film was made, the French Revolution was only 132 years old. Right now, this film is 100 years old. I’m pretty old, and I could still live to the point that the film is a greater distance from the present, than it was to the French Revolution when it came out.
When I was born, there were still people alive who remembered when movies were new.
