What if they’re really mute?
If they are unable to speak, “mute” is an outmoded word that carries baggage. It’s like saying “crippled.” There is nothing with saying someone is deaf and does not speak.
Well then what is the PC term for mute? Someone can have a condition that makes them unable to speak whether or not they also suffer from deafness.
