I’m not into anime as it is usually presented, but a quick check shows that anime is defined as

… hand-drawn and computer animation originating from Japan. In Japan and in Japanese, anime (a term derived from the word animation ) describes all animated works, regardless of style or origin. However, outside of Japan and in English, anime is colloquial for Japanese animation and refers specifically to animation produced in Japan.

If I remember correctly, beginning in the 1970s, several major American animation studios such as Hanna-Barbera, Rankin-Bass, and Warner Brothers were outsourcing production to Japan due to the favorable exchange rate, which gave rise to the term “Japanimation”. Given the above definition of “anime”, would these works also be considered “anime”?
