Not exactly about the Coast guard, but there is an awesome rescue scene at the end!

A so-so movie, although the rescue-swimmer scenes are pretty exciting.

  3. Coast Guard (1939)
  4. The Guardian
  5. The Woman on the Beach (1947-- bizarre movie starring kinda the actress you’d expect-- Joan Bennett) riffs on Magnificent Obsession that probably went and continue to go over most people’s heads. Worth watching, because someone thought it was what people wanted to see: what people? I haven’t figured that out maybe that’s the real mystery.

Unfortunately, the movie left out my favorite detail from the book: Coast Guard rescue divers are (or pretend to be) so blase about the risks of their profession that they call a dive into the most mountainous, terrifyingly dangerous seas “sporty.” Sporty! Heheheh.

This thread may also be of interest: Why is the Coast Guard underrepresented in fiction?

Stolen from the hero at the beginning of the movie, it was retrieved by a gorilla (naturally) at the end.

Plus, Margaret Dumont gets shot out of a cannon!
