Movies that take place on a single set . . . or, like, nearly so.
Rope
Lifeboat (1944)
Despite the difficulties presented by the fact that the entire cast was confined to a set that consisted of the single lifeboat, director Hitchcock still found a way to fit his signature cameo appearance into this film.
Alien – Sigourney Weaver (not technically her first, but she had only 1 line in her very first)
Coast of Terror – Mel Gibson
An Australian-produced film also known as “Summer City”. Only reason I know this is because about fifteen years ago I worked for a company that produced and distributed cheap DVDs of obscure, second-rate, public domain, or direct-to-video films for things like the “2 for $10” bins in WalMart and elsewhere, and “Summer City” was one of our titles.
And yeah, the packaging definitely played up the “Featuring Mad Max” connection.
Alien – Sigourney Weaver (not technically her first, but she had only 1 line in her very first)
Coast of Terror – Mel Gibson
Downhill Racer - Sylvester Stallone
Me, Natalie - Al Pacino
The Kentuckian - Walter Matthau
Can I Do It … 'Til I need Glasses? - Robin Williams
Can I Do It was a raunchy sex comedy sketch movie. Williams’ scenes didn’t make the final cut in the original 1977 release, but they were restored and the movie re-released after he gained fame from “Mork and Mindy,” which debuted in 1978. But Can I Do It was still his first film.
