The “opening crawl,” an homage to the old “Flash Gordon” serials, became an emblem of the film series.

  1. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
  2. Star Wars
  3. The Pink Panther

The film’s title refers to a diamond. However, Blake Edwards commissioned an animated title sequence featuring a more literal Pink Panther, who of course went on to become a popular cartoon character in his own right.

Has anyone ever made an unintentionally black and white movie?

Bond title sequences were, as a rule, all pretty damned good … but this one, I think, was exceptional. This was the first film without Sean Connery (I don’t count that 1967 abomination with Peter Sellers, David Niven, and Woody Allen – no way, no how), so I especially liked the way they paid homage to the Bond films that had come before.

This was one of those movies where Walken just comes in and does a great scene or two and that’s it. It’s a fun movie with the Rock and Sean William Scott bopping around in the jungle.
