Movie Marathon (Part 2)

Non-Disney Musicals That Were Not Adapted From Stage Musicals

(so basically musicals that weren’t originally a Broadway or other stage show, and we’re not counting Disney films or else it will just be a list of Disney films. Musicals that started in film and became stage shows later are fine.)

  1. The 5000 Fingers of Dr T.
  2. Rocketman
  3. Singin’ in the Rain
  4. Easter Parade
  5. Anastasia
  6. An American in Paris
  7. The Harvey Girls

A nit here:

The original 1967 film wasn’t really a musical (though it was about a musical, and contained some music). The Broadway musical debuted in 2001, as a musical adaptation of the film. The 2005 musical film was an adaptation of the stage musical.

It’s more of a “musical comedy.”

More of a humorous intermission, added mid-scene contrasting sharply with the ongoing scene.

There were three intermissions - one at each reel change (maybe they only had one projector?). It was the first Paramount Pictures movie, starred Sarah Bernhardt at age 68.
