ASIDE: Melissa was born in 1970 (a week after I was; pour one out for Gen-X!) and grew up in Plainfield, IL. A devastating tornado struck the town in 1990. I was in town not long after (I don’t know why) and witnessed the devastation first-hand. Had she been home to visit that weekend (she was attending SIU Carbondale at the time), it’s possible that she and I would have been within feet of each other.
