I saw the word “concierge” recently and it reminded me of a movie quote, but I forget what movie it was.
It was definitely a comedy from the 80s at the very latest. A woman who is working at a hotel says something like “I’m not a receptionist (?), I’m a concierge!” and “concierge” sounds like “conci-oyge” because of her Brooklyn (?) accent.
I was just telling someone this morning that this is a must-see movie. I think the comic premise of The Producers is classic - find a show that’s certain to flop. Simple, and it opens wonderful possibilities. One of my favorites.
Will never forget the wonderful interplay between Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel:
Wilder: “Let’s assume, just for a moment, that you are a dishonest man.”
The movie was made in 1967. Mostel and Wilder are going up to see “playwright” Franz Liebkind. When they arrive in a limousine, Mostel says “Thank you, Rudolfo” to the chauffeur, an allusion to the role-playing sex game between Bialystok and Estelle Winwood’s character in the opening sequence.
