Movie soundtracks that you own

Omigod! I can’t believe I forgot the soundtrack I listen to more than any other!
The Rutles
Here’s a few other obscure ones that I listen to regularly:
Steam
Devil’s Toothpick
Meetings With Remarkable Men
The Center Of The World
Mississippi Massala
O’ Lucky Man

Like others, I have too many soundtracks to list. Offhand, I can think of the following that I have:

Footloose
Flashdance
Grease
Anastasia
Tarzan
Beauty and the Beast
Pinocchio
Grosse Point Blank
Almost Famous
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
An American in Paris
St. Elmo’s Fire
Stand By Me

I am dying to get the Nightmare before Christmas, and I also have a couple box sets - one of songs from MGM musicals, and one of Disney movies. Some of the soundtracks I listed above will always be classics to me, although probably not to others.

Susan

Jeez, you guys. Besides Beatles albums (Let It Be, A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine), I think I own one–Singles.

Oh, wait; I think Dr. LindyHopper has the soundtrack to Dirty Dancing around somewhere. And Purple Rain (hmm…maybe we have more than I thought).

Jeez! On preview (looking at other people’s), I can’t believe I forgot Dazed and Confused. OK, so I have more than one. But I think that’s all of them.

Hmmm…

Seems I’m the only one with all three Indiana Jones soundtracks. I even have an original one from germany that I got for a few bucks at a used CD shop. They used to go for 40 bucks or so.

I think I’ve got all the Rocky soundtracks, Eye of the Tiger comes off of Rocky 3 but is on 4.

I also have Red Dawn and one I wish I could find on CD Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

I’ve got plenty more but most are on tape, not that I ever listen to any of the these though.

I own:

Pump Up The Volume
Empire Records
The Big Lebowski
Rob Roy
Playing God
Dirty Dancing
More Dirty Dancing
The Matrix
Great Expectations
City of Angels

I’ve always got my eyes open for a good compilation disc, and soundtracks are one of the most fun ways to achieve that aim. I didn’t used to care about the orchestral “soundtrack” to a film, but I’m getting more into that lately . . . not enough to have bought any yet, though, obviously.

Here are the ones I remember -
The Crow
Les Miz
Bram Stoker’s Dracula
Singles
Silver
The Wedding Singer (1 and 2)
Interview With the Vampire
Romeo and Juliet
Dirty Dancing
The Big Chill

I love soundtracks, and most of mine have been listed here. So I’ll just put in my "me too"s for the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack (both disks). I love the “You & Me” song. It’s just so…so…exuberant. And “Little Star” is a great one too. And “Angel.” Okay, now I now what I’m listening to on the way home.

Actually Moulin Rouge is in my player right now. I love it…I think I’m going to have “Come What May” somewhere in my wedding, if only at the reception.

Whoops. “Now I know.” Sorry 'bout that.

“Bringing Out the Dead” is a great soundtrack with songs I hadn’t heard since the 70’s.

I’m a recent jazz convert. Does anyone have the Naked Lunch soundtrack and if so, is it worth buying?

I really don’t go in for soundtracks and don’t own a single one. But I can think of one recent example of a film that I thought had noticeably great music that really contributed to the whole: Gladiator.

All of these have been mentioned, I think…

Jesus Christ Superstar
Heavy Metal
Fantasia

I have too many to get into, but I’d like to mention two that always come with me on road trips: That Old Feeling and When Harry Met Sally…. If you like show tunes you will love these soundtracks.

Well, maybe a few more. Desperado is a good Latin one. Hedwig is power-chord brilliance, and everyone I’ve turned on to it has asked “This is cool what is it?” I can’t WAIT to do the same with the DVD. Try and tear me down!

Color me jealous Fibonacci I love my Genghis Blues sountrack even though I haven’t seen the movie yet. I’ve been a fan of Tuvan throat signing for years. Mix in some blues and you’ve got one hell of an album.

Also:

Ennio Morricone’s The Good the Bad and the Ugly and The Mission

Vangelis’s Blade Runner

Crooklyn
O Brother Where Art Thou
Singles
I Shot Andy Warhol
Me Myself & Irene
Pulp Fiction
Resevoir Dogs
Dazed & Confused
Trainspotting

Mark Knopfler - my fave too. He also did the music in ** The Princess Bride**.

The soundtracks I have (that I can think of off the top of my head) are:

Hard Day’s Night
Jesus Christ Superstar
A Clockwork Orange
The Piano

I don’t have a big music collection, but from what I recall…

Star Wars (original vinyl, man)
The Spy Who Loved Me (I was just a kid!)
Clockwork Orange (still cool to listen to)
Amadeus (my favorite)
Passion (awesome)
Pump Up the Volume (eh…)
Crow (eh…)

oh yeah, and that Queen album that has many songs from Highlander.

On CD -
[li]Pulp Fiction[/li][li]Songs in the Key of Springfield (songs from various Simpsons episodes)[/li][li]A Hard Day’s Night[/li]
On Cassette (never seen either one as a US domestic release CD)
[li]Absolute Beginners[/li][li]Return to Waterloo (released by Arista as a Ray Davies solo album, not a soundtrack)[/li]
On Vinyl
Rocky Horror Picture Show

I now have my own copy of the sountrack album to …

… <cringe> …

SHALLOW HAL! :o
I’m a lucky feller
And I just wanna tell 'er
