Movie technology that speaks

I just watched The Amazing Spiderman that includes a few scenes with a machine that makes serums. As with virtually all futuristic technology, this machine has an automated voice giving progress updates, as in “Serum will be ready in 30 seconds.” This struck me as yet another example of movie machines that have this handy feature. One of the most prolific examples is the “30 seconds until self-destruction” mode all starships seem have (because who wouldn’t want a starship that can blow itself up?)

So, what other examples are there with movie gadgets that give automated voice updates? And I don’t mean sentient computers like Robbie the Robot, Data, Jarvis, Ash et al.

The Enterprise’s computer on the original “Star Trek” series was pretty chatty.

The car had the Daybreakers’ cars say “UV alert” whenever the vampire was in danger of stepping out of the car into sunlight. That casual warning kind of emphasized how normal vampires had become in this universe.

Thanks, Renifer. I’m going to create a new thread with a better title. I’m doing a little research.
