Movie that's been Filming New Scenes every Year for 25 Years+ ?

There is a film that’s been in production for over 25 years, each year new scenes are shot with the lead actor, and when the movie is eventually released it will show the actor ageing naturally throughout his life.

A couple of years ago I saw a BBC documentary about this project, it featured an internationally known British actor, but unfortunately I can’t remember who it was, I keep thinking of people like Ian McKellen, Ben Kingsley, Patrick Stewart, etc, so I believe he’s a classical actor who appears in major movies.

Has anyone else ever heard of this production?

(It’s not Michael Apted’s Seven Up).

No, but I believe I’ve seen something similar on YouTube, where a guy was filming himself each day over a span of years. (I can’t remember whether it was still photos or video. I think it was a montage of still photos set to music.) It was a really interesting look at the aging process.

I don’t remember the name of the clip, and haven’t been able to dig it up with a search.

This?

Noah takes a photo of himself everyday for 6 years

Could it be this? (sorry, I will learn how to link one day):

I like this one best.

No, it’s not that one. That Richard Linklater movie sounds fascinating and surprisingly similar though.

From what I remember, the movie I’m looking for started production at least 20 years ago, and the central role was played by the actor who I can’t remember.

I also heard that Lars Von Trier was doing something along those lines, but I have no cite beyond my faulty memory.

I can’t remember the name - but I heard about something similar here on the Dope. I think it was a British or BBC production about a group of five year olds. Then they went back and updated it at 10 years old, then 15 years old, and then every five years after that. I think they’re all the way up to 30 years old or something like that. Can’t remember the name for the life of me though. Anyone?

The OP already ruled that one out. It’s a documentary filmed every seven years.

I’ve also seen a video in which a young woman did this but don’t remember who or where. It’s not the one in the 269 Intervals thing on YouTube. This one’s like a female version of the Ben video in GuanoLad’s link but without the extra stuff.

Right you are - I had forgotten it was every seven years! :smack:

What will they do if the guy dies, just call it a wrap?

I find this terrifically moving every time I watch it.

I don’t know if this is a hijack or a guess. But apparently Crispin Glover has been directing a movie about the crucifixion of Jesus for quite some time now. Like decades. The reason it is taking so long is because the movie is acted out entirely by people with Down’s syndrome and he’s going at their pace.

I don’t know if this is an urban legend or not as I’ve only heard this from one person. I’d sure like it to be true as it would be a good deal for the actors and it would cement in my mind the fact that Crispin Glover is the weirdest person on Earth.

The movie is called What is it? Trailer available at that link.

Apparently it was post-production problems rather than the slowness of the actors that took it so long.

Michael Apted’s “7 Up” series:

28 Up
35 Up
42 Up
49 Up

I am pretty sure I have heard of the film youre asking about, but I’ll be damned if I can find it on the web.
