Listen, I’ve visited the Statue of Liberty. Take it from me, it’s pretty ruined in Planet of the Apes. I would definitely have noticed if it looked like this on the day we visited and would have registered a complaint for sure.
In the alternate universe in the TV show Fringe, the Statue of Liberty is bronze colored instead of green, making it arguably the rare fiction that *improves *the statue (unfortunately, Liberty Island is also the headquarters of the US DoD, and off-limits to the public).
