Movies that are better edited for TV

What films are an improvement (and how are they improved) when they’re edited for TV?

Myself, I think the version of Independence Day that they show on TNT is better than the DVD. While the DVD is properly scaled and the TV version is pan 'n scan, much of the completely unnecessary cursing is removed making ID4 a more enjoyable film to watch with your family (which, in my case, includes an 8 year-old).

The Last of the Mohicans, I have it on DVD but I’d rather see it on tv, even with the commercials. There are just plenty of bizarre throwaway scenes that seem out of place. Take for example the scene were Duncan is out of the fort leading troops in open battle with the French, they never explain it, it just happens.

Are you fucking kidding about Independance Day? They should remove that stripper too god damn it, I got kids here! Those aliens are scary too, what with all their phallocentric tentacles waving all over the place. I don’t need my 8 year old seeing that. At least not until he turns 16 and discovers anime.

So in summary, Independance Day is one of the many tools of the devil.

The stripper scene isn’t that long and is easily countered with a timely introduction of food or drink - “Sophie, come help me with these cookies, why dontcha?”

Smokey and The Bandit. Not all of it, but “scumbum” is funnier than “sumbitch” to me.

I prefer Office Space on TV, actually.
