Movies to watch while self-quarantined.

Yeah, they were talking about movies with release dates coming up, the latest Bond movie No Time To Die (maybe not a great title now).

Got it. Makes sense. Interesting.

I’d be as happy as a pig in shit. Can I just stay home and watch movies all day? Work down my “next” pile? Count me in!

However, in the spirit of the thread, The Andromeda Strain, Omega Man and The Incredible Melting Man* are very near the top of the pile.
*Yes it wasn’t contagious. That wasn’t the problem.

How about John Carpenter’s *The Thing *(1982), or 28 Days Later?

I watched Django (1966)…i was very pleased. And can’t stop singing the damn song

I thoroughly enjoyed Togo and McFarland, USA, both on Disney Plus.

The 1945 version of And then there were none.

Watched it so many times and never gets old.

Damn, great idea! One of the best casts of all-character actors until the 1970s!

I’m kind of in the mood for White Zombie (1932), starring Bela Lugosi as “Murder” Legendre. Also in public domain, and I haven’t seen it in many years. Terrible acting, but very moody and atmospheric.

I was coming in to suggest this.

It’s what we gave my boss many years ago when he took a sabbatical to go on an expedition.

To Antarctica.

No joke.

mm

Oooooh! And the 1979 version of Nosferatu, where the people think the deaths from vampirism are actually deaths from a plague that’s upon them, and the vampire has rats traveling with him, which lends credence to the idea.

And what about the 1988 Australian movie The Navigator?

And the TV movie And the Band Played On.

What about the 1924 American movie The Navigator?

We could all use a good laugh right about now, and the sight of Buster Keaton’s character, an American demonstrating imagination and competence, would be quite refreshing.

Panic in the Streets

The Director’s cuts of Das Boot and Apocalypse Now.

But the quarantine will be over before you get through them.

Cabin Fever obviously.

“Pancakes. PANCAKES!”

It’s a Wonderful Life

Miracle on 34th Street

Groundhog Day

Blues Brothers

That’s what I was going to suggest. The movie itself is far less lurid than the title would suggest. It’s about a public health officer trying to prevent a plague epidemic in New Orleans.

And in addition to being Richard Widmark’s second movie ever — after playing the deranged gangster Tommy Udo in Kiss of Death — it stars Jack Palance as the heavy and Zero Mostel as his hapless stooge. Good stuff.

The Last Valley

Flesh+Blood

OK, here’s serious suggestions (from my list of rewatchables):

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)
The Awful Truth (1937)
Cool Runnings (1993)
The Lady Vanishes (1938)
Murder on the Orient Express (1974)
Return of the Secaucus Seven (1979)
Star Wars (A New Hope) (1977)
Witness for the Prosecution (1957)
Your, Mine & Ours (1968)
