The Guardian has a list of 25 Comfort films to watch while self-isolating – ranked!
Although with the Titanic ranked Number 1 that doesn’t really sound like a comfort film…
Wag the Dog.
Not going to self quarantine, but if I was stuck in the house, I’d want something with great scenery like Open Range or Wind River.
“Quarantine” 2008 horror flick.
Binge The Last Ship.
No mention of the Lord of the Rings movies? For shame. I’d also throw in Airplane!
Good suggestion. I like this show.
Bingo!
If you want to read, try Executive Order, by Tom Clancy. There’s a manufactured plague in that one, and lockdowns/travel restrictions.
Good idea - Contagion
Bad idea - The Road
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I just keep it on TCM…24/7. Usually.
I watched the debate Sunday night. I was stabby before it was over.
I can’t take one more WH press conference.
I’ll have to find stuff out some other way.
Or read some Robin Cook novels. Late at night, with only a lamp on.
Testament. A good little movie about people in a small town (starting with the children) dying off one by one, from postwar nuclear radiation poisoning.
I though of it yesterday, when my son’s piano teacher asked if we’d prefer a Skype lesson this week (we’ll stick with the usual in-person lesson). There is a poignant piano lesson scene in the film.
Listening to a movie podcast this weekend I heard that a bunch of current movies have stopped production due to corona, not just for logistical reasons, but also because people aren’t going to be packing into theaters anytime soon.
The last part sounds odd – movie production is typically a one-to-three-year process – unless they meant “the last stage of production, just a month or two or three before a film is released” (publicity? distribution? maybe sound editing or music?).
