Movies where you agree with the minority of critics (open spoilers)

I really enjoyed it because I can relate to it from my experience attending a high school with rich white upper middle class like in the movie. It really was exactly like that.

It Follows was overrated, agreed.

You’re not alone.

I pretty much disagree with the mass in general for most movie, or at least with IMDB which is not a reliable source imo unless you stick with the 1 out of 10 stars reviews. The one that baffle me most is ‘Lost in Translation’. The movie is xenophobic for one, the attraction between the two characters are utterly ridiculous and childish. I would go as far to say I would not date someone who think this is a good movie.

I recently watched Mad Max: Fury Road on HBOGO and I was surprised it got such overwhelmingly good reviews. There was definitely an intriguing sort of primal spectacle about the film which I enjoyed but the plot was pretty half assed. I didn’t hate the film. I’d consider it the second best Mad Max movie, but that’s not exactly high praise.

I’ve always felt that The Departed was overrated. It was a mediocre effort by great talents. When I heard that Scorsese and Nicholson were making a film inspired by the life of Whitey Bulger I was excited. But the film contained many plot points that were convoluted and just silly. It wasn’t necessary a bad film, but I feel it is undeserving of some of the high praise its received. It wasn’t on the same level as Goodfellas. It wasn’t on the same level as Casino. It wasn’t even on the same level as Gangs of New York, which had plenty of its own flaws as a film but was at least a very ambitious and relatively unique work.

It was simply a typical horror film, better than many, but not great.

Unforgiven is too damn dark.

Hurt Locker bored me.

Yes, it needed more funny.
