Movies you got to see way too young. Thoughts on them now?

Well, reading the book helped a lot!

Had a sleepover at the neighbors when I was about 8. Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte came on. It was both cool and terrifying. It scared the hell out of my but at the time for some nice horror tropes such as Bruce Derns head rolled down the stairs. As an adult its a great piece of psychological horror featuring some of Hollywoods greatest actors. Bette Davis, Olivia DeHaviland, Joseph Cotton and Agnes Morehead. And a very cool backstory. Joan Crawford was initially cast in the OdH role but she was fired part way through the film.

I give you credit for getting that for. Its like celluloid Sominex to me.

Another movie my mother dragged me to. This time I was in sixth grade, and I knew very little about the Russian Revolution. Seeing the movie many years later, I realized the designers had tried to recreate Moscow from modern photos, and there were a number of anachronisms.

FUN FACT: One of the guys I worked with in Moscow in the '90s was named Strelnikov (“The Shooter”).

And yeah, the movies goes on way too long. It was also visibly rushed through production.

This is one of the “tons of movies I watched too young” that I referred to upthread. Still creepy as hell. The last time I watched it was on a lonely, gray evening a couple of years ago and I recall being kind of uncomfortable and wondering how my young self didn’t have nightmares back then.
