Movies you love for the music

Do your worst: I can play the soundtrack from “Jaws” over and over a million times and not get sick of it. J. Williams was doing something transcendent with that one.

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Film Forum is running a spaghetti western film festival right now. I went to see The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly on Sunday. (Yes, it was indescriably awesome. Thank you for asking.) Afterwards, you heard a whole lot of people humming, whistling, and singing the music. (Yes, I was one of those people. I expect folks on Houston Street thought me very peculiar.)

Thanks for the reminder: I found E. Marcone music from “The Mission” ; knowing nothing else about the movie, I now really, really need to see it. I like it that much. Yes, it sounds like soundtrack music, but…maybe I shouldn’t see the movie, after all. Perhaps my imagination is better.

Here’s Marcone, conducting it.

Joe vs The Volcano

Agreeing wit JayJay… I love the music from the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Certainly not the only thing I love about it, but top five. Also A Knight’s Tale. Kick ass soundtrack.

More recently… LOVE the Dark Shadows movie music!

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

The Commitments

O Brother, Where Art Thou

Moulin Rouge

The OP immediately calls to mind a more recent flick Sucker Punch.

I personally really enjoyed the movie itself (not a universally shared opinion apparently) but the soundtrack is just superb.

Jesus Christ Superstar.

I love the soundtrack to Garden State much much more than the movie.

The soundtrack to Star Trek II is so good that you can listen to it without watching the movie and still get it. James Horner is quite the movie composer.

**Fast Times at Ridgemont High **and Valley Girl

The Blues Brothers

Sorcerer

The Ecstasy of Gold - It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Miller’s Crossing
Jean de Florette

I’ll agree with that. Probably my favorite of all the Disney movies.

American Graffiti. The movie is just “meh” to me but I do like that soundtrack.

Dirty Dancing. Love the movie, love the soundtrack.

Alexander Nevsky, from 1938, had a killer score. “The Battle on the Ice” sequence is renowned.

Sorcerer

Oh, YEAH! Outstanding

Jesus Christ Superstar

Double outstanding. How could I have overlooked it? :smack:

Adventures Of Robin Hood

The Third Man.
Hanna.

Oh, yes; excellent choice.
