Go a *little *further back, to when Pangea existed, and it would be doable, even on foot!
To bad H. Sap wasn’t around at the time to take advantage of the possibilities. We could have gone everywhere by train, thus eliminating the need for the TSA, which **has **to be a Good Thing!
Wrong. Jews constituted about one-third of the population of Palestine at the time of the partition.
Wrong, there were repeated hostilities perpetrated by all parties. You’ve never heard of the 1920 Jerusalem Riots?
I think you might need to peruse the stacks yourself.
This is a stupid idea. I mean, I’m no friend of the status quo in Israel and I think its monumentally stupid, for all the reasons given by others.
Just why should the current citizens of Israel do this, anyway? Almost none of them (Muslim, Jew, Druze, Samaritan or Christian) want to move, AFAICT.
I mean, you aren’t just talking about removing the Jewish citizens, right? That would be rather…ethnic.
Capital idea! Somewhere between Germany and Switzerland or Germany and Poland should be ideal. If there’s one place Jews should feel safer than Israel it’d be in Europe, right? Nothing bad ever happened to them there.
As long as we get the south from May to September, you might have some takers up here…
From what I understand there is already significant emigration from Israel by Israelis. People fed up with the ongoing situation, who have the mobility of education. If that continues or accelerates I don’t think it is going to solve much though (except for them of course) since those left will of course tend to be more entrenched, politically.
I read somewhere there were 5 million + jews in the USA, and 5 million + in Israel.
Why don’t the ones in Israel move in with the US ones…problem solved.
Or maybe the ones in Israel just like their martyrdom a little too much?
There is emigration, yes, but also immigration and returning emigrants, not to mention one of the highest growth rates in the industrialized world. The Jewish population of Israel has been increasing at a steady rate which has shown no signs of stopping.
I was an emigrant once myself. Lived in New York for a couple of years, had fun, made some money, and then I went home to raise a family.
Having grown up steps from Grand Island, I always heard that it was a (theoretical option) for the State of Israel. Given that my parents lived in Israel after their liberation from concentration camps and much of my extended family is still there, it would have been great to be able to drive to Israel…
Obviously, Grans Island was never a serious option, but it always impressed me that the need for a homeland was recognized so clearly by many different groups.
Why don’t the Northern Irish unionists simply move across to live with their bretheren in England if they like being part of the UK so much? Problem solved.
Erm… I don’t really think their little beef is likely to spill over into a conflict that might involve the rest of the world, or maybe you have more information on their activities than I do? Do spill.
So what it boils down to is how to find a final solution to the Jewish question. I see, Ivan. Thanks for making your position clear.
Hey, it’s not just me that thinks that*. Apparently, a lot of big movers and shakers have been sitting around tables for years trying to sort this shit out.
- “That” the issue is important; not that there needs to be a “final solution”. That was your snarky choice of words.
 You have no idea.
I believe that there are about 2 million moslems living in Israel west of the Jordan, and 1,500 million moslems living elsewhere.
Why don’t the ones in Israel move in with the other ones… problem solved.
Or maybe the ones in Israel like their martyrdom a little too much?
(Feel free to insert your own smiley here.)
Do you think there’d be as many as 2 million if the rest of the world wasn’t watching their every move?

Exactly. And too many ‘moderate’ jews are turning a blind eye to their more extreme counterpart’s actions, while reinforcing the perpetual victim role.
“The Jewish Question”? What, is it 1946 and no-one told me?
Seriously, the critical points about the Jewish problem are:
- the Jews have stopped accepting that there is a Jewish problem
- the Jews have armed themselves and are well dug in
- any solution which doesn’t meet Jewish agreement can only be imposed by total war
A peaceful solution can only found if:
- the arabs stop fighting (*)
- Israeli security is guaranteed, de jure and de facto
Sandwich
- please think carefully before arguing that you can have a peaceful solution while the arabs continue to wage war against the jews
