Moving threads

From this thread

Do mods ask each other if one can boot a thread from one forum to another. I mean Frank may not feel like this thread fits in his forum, but what if the mods don’t feel like it fits in their’s either? Do y’all every get in pissing contest over this kind of stuff? Thanks.

We move them as we see them. No asking involved. We only make mistakes 1.9% of the time.

I ought to move this somewhere just to prove the point . . . hmm . . .

Aw, heck with it. They’d just move it back.

I never get to have any fun!

I’ve only been here a few years but I have seen threads passed around to three forums only to have to end up back in the original one on the fourth move.

Generally speaking, once a Moderator has moved a thread, he/she says so in the thread. Another moderator will respect that decision (even if disagreeing with it) and not move the thread multiple times. Our topics are not as clear as “politics” and “chemistry,” our forums are distinguished mainly by discussion style rather than by topic, so there’s room for multiple interpretations. We basically respect and don’t try to second guess each other.

The main exceptions are accidents (I meant to move the thread to GD but moved it to MPSIMS accidentally) or when a thread changes direction significantly.
