I’ve been using mozilla for a few months now, and love it, except for one problem I frequently encounter. Sometimes, when I try to go to fark.com, i get an error message saying “the file / cannot be found.” It only happens on that particular website, and I was wondering if there’s a problem on their end, or something in my browser settings?
Next time it happens, can you get a screenshot or copy and paste the exact text? There’s no way to tell what’s going on from that short of an error message.
Also, what operating system and version of Mozilla are you using?
Well, I go to FARK frequently with Mozilla, and can’t recall having your problem.
Windows XP Home, cable modem
it’s just a simple popup error message, and that’s the exact text.
I’m using 1.7 beta, but had the same problem with 1.6. Windows XP home
not sure if this would help, but if it is looking for “/” I’m thinking it cannot find the root of the page, ie. the directory the page is located in on the server. It may be that the server is pushing too much traffic at the time, and the error message is unique to Mozilla. Do you replicate the error everytime you access the site, or only at certain times? If you can access the site at certain times, that I would stick to my theory above. If you can’t access the site at all, try moving to a different version, flavor of Mozilla. Either way, the problem really doesnt sound like it is at your end. Personally, I use Mozilla firefox (v .8) and have never had an issue going to fark.com, but then again, I access the site after peak hours. As is everything, just a thought.
