I tried something similar in a Facebook asking an honest question of my (handful of) Trump Supporting (not just voting) friends about what positive developments they expected out of the new Administration.
I got a series of answers stating that they can’t stand Hillary, that political correctness is run amok, that The Wall is going to create jobs because something something, that black people don’t know how good they’ve got it, that Obama didn’t do shit to even try to help the economy recover, and that any of the perfectly reasoned responses questioning their logic were all just emotionally driven illogical liberal tear showers LOL.
I quickly decided it was pointless.

I’m not planning on joining this ‘melee’, but just want to drop in to say this thread has crystallized a feeling I’ve had that we are a community. And if one of us is a jerk, we should call them on it.

On the meta question of Why This Thread:
Sure, the xkcd observation is a timeless skewering of a (probably) universal human foible.
But at the same time, it’s worth noting that standard trollish techniques have now–it’s arguable–had an actual, provable effect on our LIVES:
The 2016 election wasn’t decided by trollish techniques—but it’s difficult to escape the suspicion that minds were changed and votes were suppressed by those techniques. Who can say what that did to the final numbers?
So, a thread that attempts to pin down someone who commonly resorts to those techniques, and get a less-canned response out of him (or her), seems a not-unreasonable enterprise to undertake in the Pit.
I opened this thinking the entire OP would consist of two words, seven letters total - two different vowels and three different consonants, one of which would be in the first, penultimate, and final places. There might have been a single punctuation mark, either a period or exclamation, with a very slight chance of a question mark.
It had none of those, and the specific phrase is appallingly lacking from the thread altogether. This thread receives no nuts. It might have received one, but the Pittee has not deigned to grace it with his presence yet, and thus the bonus nut is not awarded.
I enjoy “sad moss” as much as the next guy, but what’s the connection ?
Other than the martial arts stuff, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Clothy talk about anything other than whining about liberals. That’s pretty much it.

I think your mistake here was the title of the OP. You needed to call it something like, “Why all conservatives suck ass.” Then Clothy would have been here in a heartbeat to defend his peeps against the libtards.
If he does, all you’re going to get is a “fuck off” and a promise to go on his ignore list.
I’m pretty sure the list is so long that when Humpy logs into the SDMB, all he sees is a bunch of blank pages, interspersed with his own comments.

I used to be under the misconception that “fuck off” was against the Pit rules (I mean, it’s not much different from “fuck you”), and I wondered how **Clothahump **got away with using it so frequently.
(Got the laundry done; returned *Rashomon *and Baron Von Munchausen, borrowed *Meet the Parents *and Deadpool; got most of the gardening done; wrote to my aunt; watched some Futurama clips with my kids, for their education; even got a little painting done. Not a bad day.)
He’s Will Shortz, and that was the puzzle challenge for this Sunday’s Weekend Edition on NPR.

A bot may not be programmed to respond to something like this thread, given that (as has been suggested) it doesn’t contain attacks on Conservatives or on Trump or on Republicans, etc. A bot wouldn’t be activated by the OP of this thread. Not that I’m claiming the pitee is a program–the pitee may well be a person.
