I have used the term wetback. I’m from Texas; that’s what we Texans refer to them as. I most assuredly do not subscribe to political correctness. If snowflakes get all bent out of shape and want to whine about that term being an ethnic slur, my response, as always, is: get a life. There are more important things in the world to worry about.

Your choice of language may seem a trifling thing to you, but to people who are not you, those ethnic slurs are hurtful, socially damaging, stigmatizing, and offensive. And it costs you nothing to mend your offensive language.
As to the “get a life” response: For some people “wetback” or “nigger” or “kike” may just be a deeply hurtful denigration of their life and what they or their loved ones have struggled through in their effort to get a better life.
I know you can understand this if you care to, because you understand how damaging and unfair bullying is. (I say this NOT sarcastically.)

My joining date is quite recent, but I’ve lurked here for years, so I have noticed this guy Clothahump many, many times. And not in a good way. So here’s my take. ( Sorry for the TL;DR-ish post, got to say everything here, 'cause he blocks me after this. )
He’s on of the bitterest people I’ve encountered. I think he’s been ( like we all ) very hopeful of his futute when young, but things haven’t gone as he expected. And the conservative way of thinking is that everyone is shaping their own fate ( and luck or other people have nothing to do with it ).
So who’s to blame? Himself? Never, it always must be somebody else. The job he lost, the girl he lost, the deal, whatever… all caused by envy, jealousy, nepotism etc. of other people.
And because he so charismatic and smart, those attacks have to be masked as ideological at the beginning.
He stays here because he needs you to berate and mock him. He needs to feel he’s under attack and that people are sabotaging his life. 'Cause the other option would be admitting that he is a loser. And that is a thing he will never admit. So he fills his world with enemies and puts up a heroic fight in his mind. He desperately wants to be seen as a hard fighting tough guy by others - even that martial art school speaks for that.
It’s actually quite sad to think if he really hates so much the the way his life has turned into.
