Mr. Robot episode postponed due to today's shooting - has this happened before?

The Columbia episode aired the first time around, 2 years before the disaster. They just cut it out of repeats, similar to the WTC episode of The Simpsons.

After the Trayvon Martin shooting they really toned down the marketing for the summer comedy “Neighborhood Watch” and also swithed the name of the movie to “The Watch”.

In 1966, the broadcast TV premier of *Psycho *was postponed, due to the stabbing murder of the daughter of Illinois Senator Charles Percy.

Airplane II, about a doomed space shuttle headed toward the sun, was supposed to air on network TV (I forget which) a few nights after the Challenger disaster.

Needless to say, they switched to a different movie.

Haven’s last two episodes of season 3 got delayed by five weeks because of the Sandy Hook shootings the week before they would have aired. SyFy thought it would be in poor taste to air them when originally planned considering the second-to-last episode of the season was about people who’d come home for their twenty year high school reunion being changed back into teenagers and then murdered in the high school.

The Boondock Saints is a film about a couple of wisecracking, black coat wearing Irish brothers who shoot mobsters. Because of Columbine, it was released in a total of five theaters. It still managed to become a cult classic despite the low exposure.

The sequel was not interrupted by real-life violence and went on to be a box office bomb. However, a third movie is in the works.
