When I bought the Office package for students, I had to show ID and the clerk wrote down the ID number.
The bookstore sells the full versions of software packages at a small discount, if any. They don’t sell anything that isn’t available at the computer labs for free, so there is incentive to use the labs, but you’re buying the full license when you buy the software.
My kvetch is packages that don’t offer a student license. I have to pay $300 to license Adobe Audition. It’s mine always and forever, but it still galls me to have to pay $300 for it.
