Wow I bet the guy that accidentally said Martin Luther Coon was pissed that this lady got to keep her job after he was fired. It seemed like his mistake was more of a news story for some reason.

I’m willing to give her benefit of the doubt.
Those jobs don’t come easy, and it’s hard for me to imagine someone would risk such a job just so they can say “niggers” on the TV.
She clearly said “Los Angeles Nakers.” Not the n-word
Has anyone suggested that there should be any consequences here beyond embarrassment? This is obviously a brain-fart trying to correct mid-word and inadvertently saying something that vaguely sounds like a disfavored word. Unless she also has a swastika tattoo on her forehead, people should really get a grip if they are suggesting that she should be in any trouble for this.
Deliberately mangling MLKjr’s name is a thing with a certain crowd. Is this supposed slur a thing?
Googling it I can only find references to this recent slip up, and non-baseball related rasism involving Los Angeles, so I find it really hard to believe she would have this phrase in her brain to accidentally say, whereas Nakers seems like a run of the mill slip of the tongue, if unfortunately problematically homophonic to the N-word.
It seems like she started to say “Knicks,” then corrected it to “Lakers” mid-word. An honest but unfortunate slip of the tongue, if you ask me.
Yes there is a change.org petition for her to be fired so at least some people do appear to want her punished.

Actually, the Kennedy’s used that term to refer to MLK
It’s okay to say Nakers, but you can’t be Nakers while doing it.
I goggled at the TV news (Channel 7, ABC LA) last night. Some guy was on a tirade and said the typically verboten word “shit.” It was even FULLY CAPTIONED.
Usually, the word is bleeped somehow, and the captioning reflects this.

Cite? :dubious:
Are you suggesting that this makes it acceptable?
Seconding.
Nevermind a cite, what’s your point?
There are morons on the internet available for any occasion. What’s the point in linking to them? Are you trying to gather signatures?
Someone asked a question and I answered it, with a cite. What’s the point in asking me if I’m trying to gather signatures? If you want to accuse me of something just say it.
Clear as a bell, and corrected herself. Nothing to see here.
