Has Live Mail replaced Outlook or is it simply an “Outlook Lite” product?
Live Mail replaced Outlook Express - so yes, it’s Outlook light. I Just use Outlook as I like the features.
ETA - both are clients, you need an email provider to use them (your own or an internet one).
Microsoft also recently introduced Outlook.com, a webmail service intended to replace Hotmail.
Anyone know if you can print labels directly from the Live Mail Contacts? If not is it possible to export data from Live Mail into Excel?
I’ve been wondering this for a while: Why can’t I choose hotmail.com as my default e-mail program from MSIE?
When I click on an e-mail address link it either opens up outlook (if I have it installed) or tells me that I don’t have an e-mail program. I’ve gotten used to just right-clicking on an e-mail address link and choosing “copy shortcut”.
I don’t understand why MS won’t let one of their products work with another one of their products. I love web-based e-mail. I can access it from anywhere, and my e-mail address doesn’t change; not when I change jobs, or when I change ISPs.
Why would they replace hotmail? Didn’t they pay $3 mil for it, and haven’t they been modifying it all along? When you go to hotmail.com it redirects you to mail.live.com. So why this move to outlook.com?
Sometimes I don’t understand WTF they are doing.
Actually, Microsoft paid $400 million for Hotmail and that was in 1997. Why are they replacing Hotmail? I don’t work for them, so I can’t say. But the interface looks a lot like the desktop Outlook client and the Wikipedia article says that it’s integrated with the other Office applications.
