Good luck MsRobyn, I’ll be sending up prayers for you.
By the sounds of it Airman Doors will have to start massage training!

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Thanks for makin’ my night, Cartooniverse.
MsRobyn, I hope there’s good news for you in the future and relief from your pain. I’m thinkin’ of ya.
I have no experience with your situation, but I do have chronic pain in my leg from a horseback riding accident, so I do understand how positively annoying it can be to be in pain all the time. I’ll keep you in my thoughts that they find a quick and painless solution for you.

I got the results of my MRI and most of the EMG this afternoon (or at least the parts of the EMG I wasn’t too chickenshit to go through).
The MRI shows a congenital stenosis at the level of C5-C6 because the canal isn’t as deep as it is in normal people. There is some disk bulging and cord flattening at that level because of the stenosis. That explains the neck pain.
And it is almost certainly thoracic outlet syndrome. I meet again with the neurologist on July 1st to discuss management and treatment options.

(um – what does all of that mean? is it good news or bad news?)
It’s neither good news nor bad news; it just is, at least for right now, until the neurologist can put it into some perspective for me.
Robin
Well, the neuro did put all this in perspective for me yesterday, and the news isn’t nearly as rosy as I’d hoped.
Yes, there is congenital stenosis. My cervical spine is deteriorating rather rapidly at the level of C5-C6, right where most people do most of their neck movement. There is a bulging disk, cord flattening and spur formation at that level. This is what’s causing the neck spasms. I’m also supposed to consult with a neurosurgeon to see what he wants to do about fixing this. I’m not sure I am all that willing to have surgery at my age (I’m only 32).
I also have thoracic outlet syndrome. This just hurts like hell.
I get to see my primary care doc soon for physical therapy and neurosurgery consults. Hopefully, I’ll get better meds, too. This Motrin ain’t workin’ for crap.
Robin
Oh, MsRobyn, I’m so sorry.
Ivylad has been going through severe back pain. E-mail me if you want to talk. I hope the doctor has some viable treatments for you.
