Multiple Personalities?

Does the psychological field still endorse the theory of Multiple Personality Disorder? I seem to recall that not too long ago it was getting a second look and many were saying that the conclusions were possibly not valid and that many of the patients were being “lead” by the therapist. Are there any legitmate cases of MPD?

The current revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders calls it “Dissociative Identity Disorder.” This represents the recent dominance of a faction which regards the “personalities” as splinters of the main personality, rather than independent personalities. The condition is real, but its true nature is subject to debate.

I think there’s a lot to be said for the traditional thinking regarding this disorder.

Just purely out of interest, if one personality does something on the board to get themselves banned are all other personalities in that person excluded too?
Cos that doesn’t seem fair
