in Stirling’s Dies the Fire trilogy, every character of his snorts. whether in derision, happiness, or misery. someone snorts. i mostly enjoy the book but, really.

Not dialogue, but in Steven Erikson’s Malazan books, no one ever walks. They stride. Or they strode. Once somebody had even stridden. Is that a word?
