Murphy's back!

Not that any of you know him. Murphy operates the harrow tractor at the local racetrack between races.

Murphy is also an amputee. He’s lost his right leg from the knee down. I’m not sure of the details, but I think it had something to do with being run over by a truck. Anyway, he wears a prosthesis.

Back in February or March, Murphy suffered some kind of infection in the stump. Surgery was required. He’s been laid up since then. But he was back at the track on Saturday, working in the harrowing tractor. Of course, we all had questions when he came in for a beer after work. “Jeez, fellas, it was nothing. I made it through.” Yeah, well you made it Murphy, but you had a lot of us track habitues worried. For all that we’re a bunch of grizzled horseplayers, we worried about you.

“A fair and safe track for every horse race” is what Murphy promises, and that’s what he delivers. Glad to have him back at Lethbridge Racetrack (Lbg).

Yaay Murphy!

The world runs on simple folks dedicated to doing their simple tasks well. If we ever lose that, modern civilization will come to an end.
