Music and Time Travel

Here’s a silly question:
If you could travel back in time to 1985 and take one CD (or tape…whatever) back with you to share with your 80’s pals, which would you take and why?

I thought about this as I listened to Radiohead’s Kid A, and thought how I would have reacted if I’d heard it fifteen years ago.

Kid A is a good choice. OK Computer would be probably be better received, with lots of comparisons to Pink Floyd.

Play by Moby would be a good one, or some Fatboy Slim. Or some wild Psy-trance style electronica.

My number one pick though would be White Trash Heroes by Archers Of Loaf. This CD along with the aforementioned Kid A would have totally changed, or at least speeded up, my music appreciation evolution.

Amnesiac by Radiohead is coming out this coming Tuesday by the way.

Yes, I know. But, I’ve had Anmesiac for a couple of months now (ahhhh… the internet). It’s maintained a regular spot in my listening rotation. Good stuff.

I’d take back Fatboy Slim - Praise You.

But because I am only 17 if I went back to '85 I’d be only 1 year old.

Better yet, for which performance would you travel back in time to record (with today’s superior technology) and bring back for posterity?

Gotta pick: Louis Armstrong, “Bird” Parker, the Beatles in the German nightclubs, Jimmie Hendrix just practicing …
