I don’t think anyone’s mentioned former Skid Row lead singer Sebastian Bach, yet, who was on The Gilmore Girls from 2004 to 2007.
Wiseguy did a story arc where Vinnie went undercover in the music business to look for mob connections. Mick Fleetwood, Glenn Frey, and Deborah Harry all played characters in the story.
Alleged recording artist Barbi Benton also appeared on an episode of “McCloud,” in which Mac masqueraded as her agent.
Do Frankie Valli and Frank Sinatra, Jr, on “The Sopranos” count?
I remember that KISS drummer Peter Criss appeared on a few episodes of OZ.
Lowell George and The Factory played The Bed Bugs in the “F Troop” ripoff of that episode of “Gilligan’s Island.”
Willie Nelson also played a corrupt cop on “Miami Vice.”
Boy George was a guest star on The A Team in 1986. (I didn’t even realize the show ran that long.)
Milli Vanilli appeared as themselves in an episode of a sitcom called Sister Kate (premise of the show: Stephanie Beauchamp was a nun/seminary professor who didn’t particularly like children but has to run an orphanage- mainly significant for being Jason Priestley’s last gig before 90210). They sang “Blame it on the Rain”. I remember it because the repeat of the episode aired the week the big scandal broke.
Going back a ways, but Ed Ames, Jimmy Dean, and Roger Miller were all guest stars or semi-regulars on the old “Daniel Boone” TV series.
How about Menudo on Silver Spoons?
Sheb Wooley played trail scout Pete Nolan the first few seasons of Rawhide. He was famous for the novelty song “The Purple People Eater.”
Woohoo, I get to mention Phil Collins as con-man “Phil the Shill” on Miami Vice. Also starred Emo Phillips. Phil appears at about 2:40 in the video.
I’ve been Netflixing The Dick Van Dyck Show and this episode came up on the disc that arrived last night. One of the lads looked surprisingly familiar for someone in a fairly obscure British Invasion group.
I hadn’t realized until last night that Jeremy of Chad & Jeremy is actor Jeremy Clyde, who has had quite a career since that DVD Show appearance.
I can’t believe this was posted, and NOBODY said Steven Van Zandt???
He didn’t make a guest appearance.
Steven Van Zandt wasn’t a guest star.
And once on Seinfeld.
Steven Tyler was Charlie Harper’s neighbor on 2 1/2 Men.
Alice Cooper on Gene Wilder’s short lived series Something Wilder.
60’s garage rockers The Seeds were in an episode on “Mother’s In Law” (?) - rockin out ‘Pushin Too Hard’ from the family’s living room!
Colin Hay sang “Overkill” on Scrubs. Not at all cheesy.
