OK, I have a couple of music CDs which, when I pop them into my CD computer drive, turn out to be “special” multi-media whatevers. My problem is that, for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to play the stupid music! No, I don’t want to link to a site, or view clip excerpts or whatever “bonus” material the disk has–I just want to listen! But I can’t! There’s no menu or “play” function, and the usual track/volume pop-up doesn’t appear, so I’m at a total loss.
I’m sure I’m missing something fairly obvious, but for the life of me, I can’t figure this out. :mad: What do I need to do?
I’ll take a risk and say this:
Go to start menu->Programs->Applications(?)->Entertainment(?)->CD-player(?).
Do you have Windows? Then you’ve got a plain vanilla CD player in there somewhere.
For Windows ME it’s under: Start–Programs–Accessories–Entertainment–Windows Media Player. Click on CD Audio on the left.
For Win95 it’s under Start–Programs–Accessories–Multimedia–CD Player.
…oops, sorry, I don’t think it’s click on CD Audio after all, I think that copies music to your computer.
Be back in a minute…
But anyway, you’re saying that the CD itself doesn’t have a menu? I didn’t think any of them did. It’s up to the media player to figure out what you want to listen to.
Okay, yeah, you put the CD in (this is for Windows ME, Media Player) and click on Now Playing at the top left, and it plays the music, and on mine it shows randomly generated color, but that might just be the way my Resident Teens have it set.
And it gives you a Track List up in the upper right-hand corner, but not a menu as such.
FWIW:
On my machine the plain ol’ Windows CD player is at Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/CD Player
Thanks, therealblaze, that seemed to work, in that the player that usually pops up didn’t, but this one did and worked just fine. Whew! Still like the other player better (don’t know what it’s called, but it pops up automatically when I put a disk in or click on the D: drive) Thanks all others, too.
