Music copyright

Can someone tell me when copyright on a song runs out if ever it does. Thanks

Note also that in the case of music, both the original composition (the song) and the performance thereof are copyrightable. So a recording made today of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony would be under copyright protection, even though the underlying music is not.

Are you talking about the song as a composition, or are you talking about a recording of a song? Different laws apply.
