Music Recommendations(Heavy ska/deep-voiced reggae) Wanted

With a group as eclectic and aware of esoterica as this one, I figured I could get some music recommendations.

Lately, a friend and I have caught a few cool songs on the local college radio station. One was a ska song, which was played in the ska mold but had some wild drumming techniques reminiscent of speed metal and interesting (non-annoying-punk-wank) vocals. A couple of others were reggae, with deep-voiced vocalists.

There is a glut of ska and reggae groups/artists around, and any recommendations for interesting heavy-ish ska and deep-voiced reggae would be much appreciated.

Well, if you’re interested in reggae. An interesting offshoot is the music genre: Jungle. Typically featuring reggae-style vocals on top of an electronic breakbeat. Try checking out Mephisto Odyssey’s “Jump (Featuring Jamalski)”. If you like that then there’s plenty of Jungle and Drum n Bass resources out there.

Give Mephiskapheles a try. If nothing else the BumbleBee Tuan song is worth the price of admission.

Try the Urge - “Master of Styles” and anything by the Suicide Machines. Mephiskapheles is good too.
