Hi, all. I remember seeing a thread about this a year or so ago, but search isn’t finding it, so:
What music would you recommend for a fun-filled day of global conquest? You know, the sort of thing you’d want to have on your ipod while the Minions of Doom bring the world to its knees?
If it’s available, and absolutely legal (public domain, creative commons, or something similar), then links to MP3s would be greatly appeciated.
Good stuff, but not quite what I’m looking for. I don’t want stuff to demoralize my new slaves with - I want music to put me in the proper mood for a bit of global enslaving. More goose-step, less downtrodden, you see.
The Grudge by Tool My Generation by The Who because it amuses me The Kids Aren’t Alright by The Offspring Stand Up by Stromkern

I’ve put at lot of thought into this very subject.
Possibly…too much.
•Pskov in Flames/Death to The Blasphemer! and Battle on the Ice from Alexander Nevsky
•Horst Wessel Lied—Nazi Party anthem. I have a copy with the speed and pitched dropped by half, which brings to mind the painting from Barlowe’s Inferno, where an army of demons is parading past the memorial to the fallen angels lost in the rebellion in heaven. Yikes.
•Failing that—or if you’re a lefty—you could try The Internationale, the Soviet National Anthem, or the Red Chinese classic The East is Red.
•Der Koniggratzer Marsch, by Gottfried Piefke (Aka the “Nazi Rally March” from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
•Kill the Poor—The Dead Kennedys
•Shadow of Doubt—Yoko Kanno
•Sympathy for the Devil—Various Covers
•Schubert’s Erlking. (Good for plotting)
•Kill All the Humans—Rob Crow
•Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts—Bonnie Tyler. (Trust me on this.)
•One of These Days; The Dogs of War and Run Like Hell—Pink Floyd
•Red Right Hand—Nick Cave
•Several of the Godzilla themes
•Sinead O’Connor’s War
•Several of the French Foreign Legion’s songs—such as Kyrie des Gueux, or Si j’avais un camarade… (The latter is based on an old German song—I think I heard it sung at Otto Skorzeny’s funeral. Full of lines like “Forgive me, my friend, I can’t hold your hand while you die, for I must reload my rifle…”)
•Bach’s Prelude to English Suite No.2
•Mozart’s Chorus of the Janissaries
•Prokofiev’s Montagues and Capulets (“I live…I…liiive…!”)
•Skullcrusher Mountain—Jonathan Coulton
•Monkey Gone to Heaven—Frank Black (Somehow, I easily see gargantuan battle mechs blaring this one over loudspeakers as they pulverize a human enclave.)
•Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien—Edith Piaf
•Drums of Gaugamela—from the Alexander soundtrack
•Drop da Bomb and Build the Robots—by Doctor Steel
•The title music to G.I. Joe the Movie, with a few edits. It’s practically an evil anthem. (“COBRA! (Cooob-RAAA! COBRA! (Cooob-RAAA…!”)
•Heresy—Nine Inch Nails
•The Fight Song—Marilyn Manson
•Plus, most of the Bond themes. Especially The World is Not Enough.
Just thought of something myself - anything from the Total Annihilation sountrack. This was one of the very first PC RTS games with three-dimensional terrain, and it also had an absolutely amazing orchestral sountrack. Just the thing for sending one’s bombers to smite the other guy.
