I’m going for my first MRI on Monday. Luckily I’m not claustrophobic. It will just be an hour of lying very still. Dull, but they do play music to break up the monotony. I was thinking I should burn a CD to bring in. But what should I put on it?
So far I’ve got
Foreigner - Head Games
Pink Floyd - Brain Damage
White Zombie - Electric Head Pt. 1 & 2
Amboy Dukes - Journey to the Center of the Mind
Cypress Hill - Insane in the Brain
Post-Fade Brain Damage - Ian Gillan Unchain Your Brain - Ian Gillan Is It In My Head? - The Who Brain Salad Surgery - Emerson, Lake, and Palmer 21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson Who Are The Brain Police? - Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention
“Where is my mind?” by the Pixies
“Tomorrow Never Knows” by the Beatles (“Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream”)
“Turning Japanese” by the Vapors (“I wish a doctor would take your picture, so I could look at you from inside as well”)
and not directly related, but all of Telecommunication Breakdown by EBN has always seemed to me like the musical equivalent of a brain scan. Especially “Super Zen Chant”.
Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon is the Obvious
choice.
But I used to love falling asleep listening to Dire Straits Brothers in Arms.
Have a nice MRI my daughter has had 2.
Well, it all went as expected. It was about 45 minutes of lying still in the machine with an injection of contrast dye halfway through. They got finished in the middle of Machine Head. I guess an 80-minute CD was overkill.
Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to hear the music while the machine is going. I could just make out the beat over the arrhythmic jackhammer noises. Still, it did distract me from having to be conscious of breathing. I hate that.
I should get the results in a few days. I’ll post if they turn up anything exciting.
