Music with one-word female name as its title

Two obscure ones from ABBA:

Elaine

Cassandra

January

Magdalena

Sorry for my third post in a row. I’d have saved them for one post if I’d realised I could come up with more

Mona
Amanda
Julie
Lucy
Ita
Diane
Henrietta
Annie
Jacqueline

(ok, most of those were courtesy of Div, except the really bad ones).

A different Donna than the one already mentioned.

And a different Delilah. [Edit - oops, someone beat me to this one…]

Surprisingly, the first Mary.

Jeanette.

Samantha.

Anastasia.

Charlotte.

Bound to be controversial, since it’s a hyphenated name, and an odd one at that, but definitely the name of a young woman in the song - Mari-Mac.

From the same band, we have Margarita.

Vampira – Bobby Bare

Debora – Tyrannosaurus Rex

Nadine
Natalia

And surely very much in the spirit, if not quite to the letter, of the OP: Barbara Ann. (I actually knew a girl called Barbaran once, one word, so it ought to count.)

Somebody already posted The Doors version of this much covered song (it became pretty much the “Johnny B. Goode” of British punk), but this is the original of Gloria (Them, featuring Van Morrison), and surely this is the most interesting of all the many reworkings.

And I don’t think we have had this Juliet.

Mary Mac which I only include because it’s such a fun song. Especially if you are a merry=Mary=marry person.

Mary Mac’s mother’s making Mary Mac marry me
My mother’s making me marry Mary Mac
Well I’m going to marry Mary for when Mary’s taking care of me
We’ll all be feeling merry when I marry Mary Mac

Seeing your post reminds me that there is actually a song called Gigi, from the musical of the same name (vocal does not start until about two and a half minutes in!).

A different Clair – Gilbert O’Sullivan

Emmie – Laura Nyro

I was going to contribute “Dawn”, but the actual title is “Dawn (Go Away)”, so it doesn’t quite qualify.

Mabel.

Deborah (not the same as “Debora”).

And a different Anna.

burpo the wonder mutt is a fucking awesome username!

Uh, howabout Angelyne, Jayhawks? (can’t be arsed to post a link)

Célimène

Yolanda by Pablo Milanés.
