Yes this has been one of the shocking developments of our era.
Far-right groups have always existed here in the UK, but they were basically like the flat earth society, or at least that’s the way it always appeared to me. And I’m saying that as a mixed race person who experienced racism growing up. Saying you were in the national front or BNP was a quick way to announce that you belonged to the absolute dregs of society and wanted to season your football hooliganism with a sprinkling of racism.
Now it’s mainstream, and there is no right, or centre-right party: all these groups are trying to outflank each other on the far right.
