Must See: 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' documentary on YouTube

I call this a must see even though I’m only 1 hour in a sprawling 6-part, 8 hour documentary by British documentarian Adam Curtis available on YouTube at his channel here:

This is a historical documentary on the same plane as Connections, where the narrator and imagery take you on a fascinating web of interconnectivity where a 15 minute span containing Mao’s wife, Discordianism, and Jim Garrison (of JFK fame) makes complete and total sense.

There is also a fascinating discussion on this film on The Big Picture podcast with Chuck Klosterman who raved about this film (and who obviously has never seen Connections, the parallels are that obvious).

Regardless, this has been a fantastic geekathon ride so far and I’m going to binge on this over the next days and I’d like some of y’all to give it a shot and join me both in watching and discussing.

First episode:

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve just gone through the first two episodes, great stuff! Lots to think about and I do see the similarities with James Burke’s Connections…except the subject matter is much darker…

Without a doubt, because he’s connecting the 60s to Trumpism and the changes we’re seeing today. Not sure I agree with all of it, but that is to be expected with such a sprawling work. At the very least, he is convinced of this, and his access to the entirety of the BBC News archives and ability to use the footage to weave his narrative is nothing short of masterful.
