I consider myself adventurous when it comes to food but not sure I can do that. I know they are fine as a food source but not sure I can get my brain around that one.
I’ve planned a long weekend in Mexico City, but have yet to do it. My plans include Teotihuacan, National Museum of Anthropology, Bicycle Sunday, and a taco tasting tour, plus whatever else I have time for (watching this thread!).
Mexico City is pleasant. Great food. Safe if you follow basic taxi rules and use common sense. Teotihuacan is a must. You can generally get there by public bus in an hour from hotel zones and touristy areas in central Mexico City, and there are as many tours as you would expect.
The Anthropology Museum is great but huge, and can be “much of a muchness” unless very interested in the topic - I spent seven hours seeing it all. @FinsToTheLeft has provided a very good list. I have not been there recently enough to list the most au courant places, but have heard there are many.
This was the Mural Museum I mentioned, it was definitely one of the highlights. It’s also free!
The best taxi rule is to not use them, there are apparently too many scams. Uber and Bolt got us everywhere in the city, usually for $6-7+tip which was great considering we were 4 people.
