And Blucher, that was nicely nicely done.

You’re making this up as you go along, aren’t you?
Some questions you have missed:
[quote=“TokyoBayer, post:177, topic:747774”]
How does God handle evolution? At what point in evolution did humans get souls?
Not surprisingly, the Bible strongly reflects the philosophy of the West rather than the philosophies of the East. Did Western people develop in a more god-like environment or did the specific teachings simply reflect that of the society where the book was written?
Other questions. How does God sort out mental illness and emotional disorders?
If your brand of God pro-gay or anti-gay? How can following Him know who we are supposed to shun?
The various translations of the bible have countless translation errors. Were they inspired by demons?

No, I think that part is true - cite.
I found someone and it wasn’t luck, it was a choice. Only God can give atonement for sin, neither you or I can, as we both have so much sin on our heads that needs atonement.
I’m kinda surprised you would denounce me as a Christian. I understand I’ve been a bit snarky with you and deserve your scorn and debasement. I asked a few honest questions and you’ve chosen to not answer them. I enjoyed your witnessing, you’ve worked hard on it and it shows. It’s a pleasure to read it. However, if you’ve no edification to offer, I’ll be off to remark my territory …
In the beginning of the Bible, God defines “good” and “evil”. Where you see these words in the Bible, they have the definition set forth there. I can’t imagine any definition from outside the theology that would be any merit. Look into your own heart, and choose the loving way, and that’s always good enough for God.
As opposed in believing in Jesus?
“Faith is believing what you know ain’t so.”
and
“But who prays for Satan? Who in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most, our one fellow and brother who most needed a friend yet had not a single one, the one sinner among us all who had the highest and clearest right to every Christian’s daily and nightly prayers, for the plain and unassailable reason that his was the first and greatest need, he being among sinners the supremest?”
–Mark Twain
Do you pray for Satan?
Great Galloping Ganesha…with that cast, how on earth did I miss this in theaters?
(On review, I guess the more accurate complaint is that a cast like that was so sadly wasted on an apparently deeply mediocre film.)
Actually, it’s quite a good movie. I really appreciated the closing of the story arc from the lead (where the demon tells you this is the story of how he almost died) in the epilogue, where it turns out the protagonists’ efforts were all in vain, and why…
A serious questions for religionists of all persuasions: Do you think this sort of witnessing is more likely to bring folks closer to religion, drive them away, or not have any net effect at all?
Objection…! Assumes facts not in evidence…! Sidebar, your honor…
It certainly brings folks closer together, two hundred posts in and we’ll all being civil to each. This has been just a giant love-fest. The answer is that it does draw some into religion, it drives some away and some it has no effect. We only broadcast the Word, and let the Word take root and grow as it will.
The benefit is to the witnessor, not the witnessee, especially if they can gin up some persecution:
Well, that’s damn self-serving, I would think.
Christianity is the Amway of religions. Believing is like buying the soap, but witnessing is like moving up to distributor. Getting doors slammed in your face is like a ticket to heaven. Praise Jesus!
Do you actually see this thread, and more specifically witnessing of this sort, drawing any of us posters closer to religion…or is this just a case of “Never throw stones at Crystal Cathedrals”?
Are you aware that the depiction of Christ and Christian saints with a golden disc around the head is just borrowed from earlier depictions of Greek and Roman gods?
So what? Why shouldn’t the Holy Ghost have adorned them with his Orbs?
Deus dat cui vult.
This thread is like casting seed on a slab of cement, what the crows don’t eat will be blown away by the wind. More dangerous is if this witnessing should set a stumbling block before anyone, as it is a grave sin to hinder anyone’s path to God. I think the witnessing itself is fine and valid, I just don’t see the wisdom of posting it here. At least that’s how I judge this matter for myself. I do try and leave my humanity behind in the Real World, it just gets in the way here on the internet, so I’m probably not the best person to ask.
Sigh.
I’m just going to ask you directly: Do you think there’s such a thing as ineffectual or even “bad” religious witnessing that might do more harm than good?
Do you mean that “good” and “evil” may only be understood in the context of God? That our forebears eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil was a fruitless enterprise inasmuch as it failed to take, for those of us who lack the God context?
I mean, I love my people and want them to thrive, but the Nurglians next door are not my people, so it is good for me to invade Nurgel and slaughter its people (menfolk, at least) so that we can take possession of their fertile lands and grow. The Nurglian King, after all, is wicked and commands his people to do unholy things. This is the kind of thing I see taught in the bible.
