The Holy Spirit is of God, our bodies are just protoplasmic CO[sub]2[/sub] factories.
:smack: Okay, you got me to chuckle.
So - apparently - Jesus approved of ‘this’ work where **ScottRP **damned a number of SDMB members to hell for all eternity between his start date and when he actually started doing this glorious work.
and he laughs about it - but -

Jesus Wept.

I try to be a kind, caring, loving, humble, considerate person.
I would like to share a miracle with you. Once a drank from the cup of a person who had hepatitis C and bleeding gums. I had contracted jaundice(a yellowing of skin) and tested positive for it twice. I cried out to Jesus. Today, my test results come back as if I never had it in the first place.
Mark 16:17-18. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
A picture of smurfs… really?
I’m glad.
What does that mean, in practice?
Does humility mean you acknowledge that you might be wrong, or even misled, about your beliefs?
Do kindness and love and consideration mean you sell your possessions and distribute your wealth to the poor, as the Christ taught? Are you rich in good works, as Timothy advised? Do you strive to better the lives of “the least among us?”
How do you live the gospel?
Are you a better husband, father, brother, friend? Do you give your coat and then your shirt? Do you open wide your doors to the halt, the lame, the mad, the poor?
How do your revelations–yours alone, it seems–serve this world?
I don’t collect coats and shirts from the elderly widow women and orphans I provide safe affordable housing to, they can’t afford it. I know a little of what is right and just for myself, but I’ve been wrong before, I’m sure I’ll be wrong again. Spent my whole life trying to live by the Sermon on the Mound, a work in progress.
My revelation is that The Truth lies with JAH -

Staying silent for a year and a half when you could have been saving people from Hell makes you chuckle?
Wait, I haven’t read this entire thread but I am pretty sure it’s not Catholic doctrine that you can intercede for the dead and atone for their sins can you? I thought you had to personally accept Jesus as your saviour and ask for forgiveness yourself.
If you can intercede for the dead then Catholicism is even more messed up than I thought. So not only can you be a bad guy all your life then just confess your sins on your deathbed and get absolved, actually you don’t even have to do that. You can just be a bad person your entire life, die unforgiven and get someone else to atone for you.
Screw that, what kind of moral system is that? In Buddhism you actually have to perform good actions to cancel out your bad ones, its not enough to just ask forgiveness.
In Hell or in Australia? Same difference, I suppose.
I’m picturing a kid given Phenobarbital for motion sickness (the mid-20th century truly was a golden age!) watching some guys in white jumpsuits washing or refueling a plane.
JAH or Margaret Thatcher?
CMC fnord!
It was a hill goddammit …
Then you should be able to show us dated before and after test results, right?
Bravo!!!
OK, fair enough – if you can answer my other question: what is “evil”? Seriously, without framing it in the context of God, can you give a reasonable, objective definition of “wicked and evil” that we can all understand? Because, from what I have observed, “good” and “evil” are highly subjective, and when you add God into the mix, discerning the difference becomes even more problematic.
I seem to have one of those soul things. It is what it is. I am not convinced that it can possibly be of any “value or worth” to me or to anyone else. It just is. I see, for instance, the preacher, whose soul by your measure, in the care of the Savior, must be of some or great value; I see him sharing the teachings of the Savior – at least as he understands them; and I see him go into the evening shadows to bugger young boys. There is a dichotomy that gives me pause when I give consideration to the “value or worth” that salvation bestows. Why should I believe that the soul thing ought to be any more than what it is?
Red is for the words of Jesus. Please avoid elevating the words of Saul of Tarsus above where they ought to be.
I saw the motorcycle one as well. Around 1990. Shameless brag moment. I did see when David switched with the body double for the trick. Open spoilers so don’t pit me. It was after he had put on the full face helmet with dark glass and heavy gloves. He went behind a curtain but kept the glove and arm in full sight sight except for one brief period where the exchange happened.
How does God handle evolution? At what point in evolution did humans get souls?
Not surprisingly, the Bible strongly reflects the philosophy of the West rather than the philosophies of the East. Did Western people develop in a more god-like environment or did the specific teachings simply reflect that of the society where the book was written?
Other questions. How does God sort out mental illness and emotional disorders?
If your brand of God pro-gay or anti-gay? How can following Him know who we are supposed to shun?
The various translations of the bible have countless translation errors. Were they inspired by demons?
There is a high rate of suicide among Mormon LGBT youth because of this message. It disgusts me as well.
It is the truth. I have witnessed it myself. Without God, we are the devil in the afterlife and we are better off had we not been born.
Mathew 26:24. “The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”
Hence, the value of salvation is greater than the sum our lives.
If you are so lucky to find someone who will offer up atonement for you. You stand better odds at winning the lottery. I suggest you have faith in Christ during your lifetime.
I could, but I would have to get them from the doctor. And considering that this is not a book that I am writing, I choose not to go through all the trouble.
