Little boy-screams-alot came into my bed early in the morning. I had opened my eyes but I was far from fully awake.
I asked him was he ok. He’s said yes.
Then he started yakking non-stop.
He told me he knew his dream was about a hole in the back yard. In the hole has many monsters. If you went down there you had to run and hide in certain places. You had to look for weapons and candy to feed the monsters. You had to remember what monster ate which candy. And there were messages hidden everywhere to give you ideas where to hide.
I’m not sure, but this first grader may have just written a video game.
He may be a prodigy.
We had hilarious conversations with one of my brothers who was a sleep talker:
“Ve haf vays of meking you talk!”
“No, no! I won’t give up.” Bbro was struggling in his sleep as he yelled.
I once worked with a woman who wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, and she said, “There is no such thing as bipolar disorder! It is all in your head” and I replied, “That’s right, it’s all in your head, because it originates in your brain.”
As for a 2-year-old not sleeping through the night, as annoying as that is, I wouldn’t be talking sleep clinic yet unless there are other issues.
I think night terrors with running and screaming up and down the halls, preventing the rest of the family from sleeping would more than qualify as “other issues.”
If it happens once a month, yeah, maybe you can wait it out, see if the kid grows out of it. But if this is a nightly performance, it’s time to figure out what is wrong.
Little Lord screams-alot has not repeated his performance.
I can’t remember if he’s done anymore of it. He’s definitely been wakeful due to ear infection pain. He’s suffered from multiple ear infections in his little life.
I don’t think this is gonna be a everynight event.
Now saying all that, Miss Unbeliever-li’l wrekker would have qualified as a repeater.
I never thought of a Sleep Clinic. I seriously considered a therapist for her. But it seemed she was growing out of by that time
I’ve had one ear infection in my life (that I can remember, anyway) and I was in high school, so I can understand why babies are so fussy when they have them. That was quite painful.
