My sister & her friends have arranged a memorial in a hotel, locally.
My brother was not religious.
But yes, a hotel seems odd.

Yesterday, we had the memorial.
It was organized by my brother’s friends from the various science fiction conventions he attended, & his pub-crawling pals.
We got up in turn, and told stories about Andy.
I spoke of his early childhood, and his introduction to fandom.
Andy died of a heart attack, after a lifetime of heavy smoking.
He was 46.
Goodbye, Baby Brother. I loved you, and will miss you until I die.
I had to stop, to cry for about 5 minutes.
I can go on, now.
I haven’t lost a sibling yet, I’m the oldest though.
I’m sorry for your loss. The memorial sounds like it was interesting. I don’t blame you for stopping to cry, that stuff can be overwhelming.
