My company might be moving to Canada?????

Until the day some surly border guard decides to randomly deny you entry. Hope the company lets you work from home.

Canada is the second largest country in the world, after Russia.

China is third, the US is fourth.

I found the claims that Obama was a Socialist very amusing for this exact reason. Obama was no Jack Layton.

Local pronunciation is as spelled, rhyming with ford, though you do occasionally hear Abbotsfurd.

Politically, it’s not nearly as far left as Vancouver. You’d probably be fine.

It’s fairly easy for an employer to get you a work permit here. Once you’ve been here a few years, you can apply for permanent residency, and a few years after that, citizenship. Taxes are an annual hassle but no big deal: you just file twice, once for each country, but paying is a lot easier in Canada. File, and then you have until April 30 to pay, and you can just pay at the bank counter. Housing is expensive but not the crazy mess it is in Vancouver (average home price > $1,000,000).

I’m not too far away (about halfway between Abbotsford & Vancouver), and moved up from California about 6 years ago, so if you need specific info PM me.

Or pay tax on line if you prefer.

Population. I thought that was obvious, but apparently not.

Having a job in Canada is pretty much the single best way to get in.
