My Dishwasher won't drain the water

After doing dishes the other night, I noticed that the bottom of the dishwasher is filled w/water, and the dishes are not really clean. I removed both trays of dishes, and scooped out the water. I have removed the device which sprays the water around, but I don’t see what is obstructing the water from leaving.

Any thoughts?

There are a couple of possibilities:

For some reason the water level control is slow to operate, and the drain cycle is too short to remove all of the water due to overfill.

The intake screen to the pump is blocked.

The pump needs replacing.

The pump dis\charge line may have blockage or is kinked.

If there is an economy cycle on the machine try that----it may reduce the overall water intake.

ROTSA RUCK!

We just had this happen and I took the bottom parts out to see what was up. I couldn’t find the problem so I called a repair guy. Amazingly, our problem was that there was too much soap and it clogged something. So I started buying the tabs so neither we or our housekeeper would overdo it.

Just had this fixed last week. The drain hose can’t have a kink in it or it won’t drain. If the hose hasn’t been moved or kinked it is probably clogged. I try to scrape and rinse my dishes before I put them in the washer, but what food I do leave evidently clogged the hose. Give it a good reaming (and that’s good advice for just about any situation).

There must be a pump that is either not working or is clogged. The drain line that leaves the bottom rear of the washer may also be clogged.
This is hard to trouble shoot because the washer is usually pretty inaccessible.
The drain line is usually not long enough to keep intact when the unit is pulled out and the electric connection is usually pretty tight too.
If you can access the back of the unit while it`s running you can tell if the pump is running or not. You can also tell if the line is clogged by removing the hose and inspecting it.
You should be able to feel the pump working or trying to work if you can access it.

Be very careful of moving parts and live voltage when doing this!!

There is always the possibility that a relay or some other control or fuse is prohibiting the pump from coming on too.

If you need to replace the hose, you can get auto radiator hose for the purpose and it`s much cheaper than a replacement dishwasher hose kit. And alot stronger.

I like your sig. by the way.

Our 70’s dishwasher drained or had a line into the garbage disposal. That line has to be clean too, I would guess.

IN the future you might give who made the machine & how old it is.
