My Ear Itches

But it’s numb and scratching does nothing.

My right outer ear, near the top, has been itchy for the last few days. Scratching it doesn’t help.

Why? About three years ago I had surgery removing some cancerous lymph nodes in my neck, and it resulted in a messing-up of the nerves in my face. The surgeon said specifically that my ear would be the last place where surface nerve endings would grow back. The rewiring also came with places where it feels like a different spot when I touch it. That may be what’s happening here, but I haven’t found where the “real” spot where I itch is.

It’s just super mundane and pointless, but I wanted to gripe. Thanks.

I’ve had the mysteriously jumping itch thing, too, without any surgery. And I’ve had my ear itch in places where scratching is hard. So I think I feel ya.

For you, I wonder if it’s that the nerves are starting to work again. I know that sometimes a spot itches after I’ve pinched a nerve for a bit.

I was told it means somebody is talking about you.

Or that company is coming. I can never remember.

If your right hand itches it means money is coming.

If your left hand itches it means money is going.

If your nose itches it means you just put your hands in the dishwater.
